They both have a huge number of characters but they are so well drawn that you end up caring about all of them.HelenMWaltershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16182100572365505905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4407689390549060391.post-87732797205357634882008-03-15T00:01:00.000+00:002008-03-15T00:01:00.000+00:00I read this last summer, and agree with the review...I read this last summer, and agree with the review. I've read most of hers - her big talent to me seems to be her way of creating huge casts of very convincing characters whom you care about, but find yourself laughing a lot too. If you liked Case Histories, Cathy, you'll love it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4407689390549060391.post-87553844361122748072008-03-14T10:51:00.000+00:002008-03-14T10:51:00.000+00:00Anne, You'll definitely be glad that you did. I think the structure and plot are richer than in the earlier books which makes it more satisfying.HelenMWaltershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16182100572365505905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4407689390549060391.post-6400961386496399442008-03-14T07:27:00.000+00:002008-03-14T07:27:00.000+00:00I'm actually just starting this one - and am reall...I'm actually just starting this one - and am really enjoying it! Which is a surprise as I didn't like the other two and couldn't get into them at all. I though I'd give her one last try and so far I'm glad I did.

A
xxxAnne Brookehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03982495677389302410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4407689390549060391.post-18123312522153496132008-03-13T19:00:00.000+00:002008-03-13T19:00:00.000+00:00Kate Atkinson certainly has a talent for creating ...Kate Atkinson certainly has a talent for creating unforgettable characters and situations. Jackson Brodie is one, but also Ruby Lennox in 'Behind The Scenes At The Museum' and Effie in 'Emotionally Weird' who both stay with you long after the book is finished. I think it's to do with the way she manages to make characters sympathetic and flawed at the same time.HelenMWaltershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16182100572365505905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4407689390549060391.post-10762414246693289642008-03-13T18:18:00.000+00:002008-03-13T18:18:00.000+00:00I'm really looking forward to reading this as I lo...I'm really looking forward to reading this as I loved 'Case Histories'.
